And I'm home

I want this to be my wedding song. For as long as I can remember, I've always been a sucker for guys with nice arms. I think the fact that this song is called "arms" is a sign. Also, I find everything about this song beautiful. The way it's sung, the lyrics. It's just too perfect.

Bits and Pieces

Bits and Pieces for today.

1. Tasseled satchel and polka dots. 2. Dirty shoes and lace socks. 3. Taking spoonfuls of honey and lemon as if my life depended on it.

Today was pretty fun. Spent the day working on our top secret WTCK's project with Steph before heading off to work. I'm a little bit obsessed with polka dots at the moment and wore my polka dot blazer today and my favourite satchel. Also thought the lace socks added a bit of girlieness to my greasy and dirty shoes!

And now, here I am taking spoonfuls of honey and lemon because I have this bad cold and I don't want it to get worse. This honey lemon concentrate is weirdly comforting.

Bucket list item#2: Go on a Summer adventure

I woke up to disappointing weather today. Considering a couple of friends and I planned on a little beach getaway, I was not impressed that the sun was not coming out. It got worse when a couple of our friends decided not to go, and only three of us was keen. In the end, we decided to mish it out anyway. Either way the weather was crap, so why not enjoy the crap weather somewhere else? Ha.

Explored the charming little town of Mt. Maunganui and was surprised at how it was so alive. There was more than a few good shops in there and we had a blast checking them out. Ended up getting friendship bracelets, secondhand copies of two books I've been wanting to read, and a few pieces of clothing.

When we got to the beach, we were surprised to see that there was a lot of people and that some sort of gig was happening. It was the Coke Dome tour and we ended up checking it out. The wrist bands were so techy, in sync with our Facebook accounts, and we had to swipe them to do all these things. There was also a photobooth where photos taken will automatically be uploaded in our accounts. Another thing I enjoyed was the seemingly endless supply of coca-cola refreshments for everyone! Of course, the live entertainment did not disappoint with Josh Leys, Massad, and the guys from The Good Fun performing! Also got to try the new icy coke thing thanks to Massad!

The day was spent with two of my closest girlfriends, filled with awkward moments and laughs, random talks, and memories. I think I can put a big check to item #2 in my bucket list!

Of course, the day I do all these cool things, meet awesome people, get photographed and get videoed has to be the day where I look like crap in my rattiest clothes. But oh well, who cares about appearances when you're having the time of your life?

Hello, happiness

I had the day off today so I was finally able to relax and wear clothes not from work! Ha. I spent the day sleeping in, finally finishing "Everyone worth knowing" by Lauren Weisberger (A chick lit I highly recommend!), and went out for a little bit with my family.

My little brother bought a guitar, while I went and bought these babies! The magazine was even $5 off as I spend way too much in that store to garner a voucher, and the movie was a lucky find. I've been trying to track down a copy for ages now and never had any luck until today. I added the peanut butter cups just for good measure. I was on a happy spree. Don't judge me.

'Cause tonight's the night the world begins again

" It's  (the ball) suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the New Year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and our missteps - our promises made, and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures - or closed ourselves down, for fear of getting hurt. Because that's what New Year's is all about: getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about 'what if' and start embracing what would be. So when that ball drops at midnight - and it will drop - let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long."

This quote from the movie New Years Eve was said by Hilary Swank's character Claire and it couldn't be more true. There is something about the new year that brings even the most cynical of people hope. It's getting a clean slate from all the bad things that happened the previous year, it's a chance to leave all the baggage behind, it's a fresh start for most of us. But more importantly, I think it's the spark of hope that we all long for.

The New Year ushers in the unknown for us. It's a whole 365 days untouched, blank, and waiting to happen. I guess that's what makes it so exciting and worth celebrating for. It's 365 days waiting to be filled with memories, experiences, and opportunities.

So here's to what lies ahead. Here's to the new year, here's to the promise of hope, and here's to a brand new year with 365 days to make things right. Here's to 2012!

P.S.

The song "Better Days" by Goo Goo Dolls is probably my all time New Year's anthem. Doesn't it just give you hope?
